Introduction: We know before the introduction of the agriculture chemicals (pesticides, herbicide and fertilizers) and so called high yielding varieties of the crops, our crop production system was sustainable and our ‘produce’ was of top quality and free from the toxic residues. But the importation and incorporation of a monster known as the ‘GREEN REVOLUTION’ has severaly devoured our ecology and glorious traditional agricultural system. All of us know the consequences of the green revolution (need not to mention the details of lethal impact of green revolution on our ecosystem).
We know that plant diseases (foliar and soil borne as well) are among few important factors contributing low average yield of the crops. The chemical management of soil borne diseases (wilt, root-rot, crown gall, self rot etc) of the vegetables, pulses, horticultural and ornament plants is not possible since most of the pathogens are reported to develop resistance against the most of the available agricultural chemicals. The fungicidal control of soil borne diseases under the field condition has fastered the negative approach among the farmers because of their high cost, phytotoxity and persistence of their residues. Besides above mentioned things, the increased rise of potentially hazardous fungicides has become a matter of growing concern among the environmentalists and public health authorities.
To overcome the above mentioned hurdles our company (Penta Pharma Pvt. Ltd.) has developed a microbial product SULEX which is effective against all the bacterial and fungal (soilborne as well as foliar) diseases of the crops.
